Be flexible. You can save a lot of money by traveling in the off season. Tourist attractions are easier to get into then, and sometimes the weather is better in the off season, too. When you’ve chosen a general travel time, ask about weekend packages. You can often cut your airfare by as much as two thirds just by including a Saturday night in your trip. Hotels, too, are often less expensive if you include a weekend in your stay.
