Changes
In addition to all of the other changes in your life once you’re married, you’ll have to do some paperwork changes, as well. Depending on the decisions you made while discussing finances before the wedding, you may need to:

• Open a joint bank account
• Decide who has the better health insurance and add the other person to that plan
• Write or update your wills
• Buy life insurance, or change the beneficiaries if you already have life insurance
• Change the beneficiaries on retirement funds
• Insure your rings by updating your homeowner’s or renter’s insurance
• Combine your auto insurance coverage
• Choose a tax filing status: Will you file as married filing jointly or married filing single?
• Change your name on legal documents:
• Driver’s license
• Social Security card
• Income tax forms
• Voter registration card
• Passport
• Credit Union or Bank accounts
• Credit cards
• Insurance policies
